Network Security Specialist – 12 Month Contract + Extension | North York New

Position Summary

 The Information & Technology Services Unit is seeking a Network Security Specialist with a strong security & compliance insight who will report to the Manager, Network & Infrastructure. This position will play a key role in supporting, delivering and the implementation of cyber security services and cloud adoption in support of clients network and infrastructure technology environment.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Provides thorough risk assessments, identifying vulnerabilities within network and supporting infrastructure and provide recommendations to implement and configure systems to enhance existing security features
  • Responds to and documents security threats, resolve technical faults and allocate resources to deliver real solutions in a cost-effective way
  • Proactively research and analyze security weaknesses and provide appropriate mitigation strategies and recommendations based on findings
  • Provide Threat intelligence to ensure cyber threats are identified, properly communicated and preventative actions are identified and implemented to aver impacts to organization
  • Identify and source security solutions to protect organizational weaknesses against current and new vulnerabilities and threats
  • Assists the Manager with the development, coordination, planning and execution of project plans, determining requirements, researching, evaluating and recommending cyber security solutions
  • Provide direction for project team members with respect to security specific projects or tasks and monitors progress and results
  • Act as third level support to provide cyber security incident diagnosis, tracking, resolution and escalation
  • Ensure the physical security of organization’s data and communications infrastructure
  • Develop, implement, and maintain security policies and procedures
  • Monitor the development and production environments, including network, servers, and logs, and initiates corrective actions to ensure security standards are adhered
  • Analyze and recommend operating system revisions/service pack update for the continued secure operation and reliability of the LAN/WAN/Wireless environment
  • Provide security oversight and guidance for development, testing, and training environments
  • Develop and update technology documentation to support operational processes with ITSM Framework such as Incident Management, Change Management on the network, identity and access management, backup and restore
  • Attend weekly ITSM/Operations Review and the Incident/Problem Review meetings as required

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7-10 years’ implementing, supporting and delivering of cyber security services and cloud support
  • Extensive technical know-how of security network devices (switches, antivirus, firewalls, cryptography, SIEM) and any other security networking hardware or software tools
  • Proven experience with security threat management including detection, prevention, remediation
  • Deep understanding of IT security industry standards (NIST; ISO-27001; SOC2 Type2)
  • Excellent hands-on experience and knowledge implementing, configuring, integrating and supporting the network security including F5 Load balancers, BigIP LTM/GTM/ASM/APM, IPAM, Cisco ISE, Microsoft Authentication,
  • Knowledge of networking concepts such as WAN connectivity, transport types and protocols, and experience with wireless technology and Wireless deployment
  • A recognized certificate in one of the following CISSP, CCSP, CCNP, CCNA, CCIE, Security +, OSCP, CompTIA Server+, MCITP, LPIC, CompTIA Cloud+, VCP, or Microsoft Azure is a definite asset
  • Proven experience planning, designing and implementing network technology in a highly complex environment including Active Directory, Azure, M365, Exchange and SCCM; Cisco UCS Blade servers; Cisco switches and routers; Windows Server 2019/2016/2012/2008; Linux; SQL Server 2016/2014/2012; Zscaler (ZIA/ZPA) Secure Internet Gateway
  • Knowledge of VMware VSphere 6 Enterprise, VCenter and VRealize
  • Minimum 7-10 years’ experience actively developing, coordinating, planning, delivering and deploying cyber security in network, infrastructure or cloud with ServiceNow a definite asset
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in information systems or Computer engineering/science
  • Proven commitment to customer service, performance quality, and continuous improvement
  • Detailed oriented with good oral and written communications skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a team, to work independently as required
  • Ability to remain calm while multi-tasking and working under pressure in a fast-paced environment

  • Canadian Criminal Record Check Level 1 – Clearance Certificate
